Coal India Records 84.5 MT Production in March 2026, Maintains Strong Offtake

New Delhi: Coal India Limited (CIL) reported a production of 84.5 million tonnes (MT) in March 2026, reflecting steady output as the company continues to meet rising energy demands across the country.

The state-run miner also maintained robust offtake during the month, ensuring consistent coal supply to power plants and key industrial sectors. The performance underscores CIL’s critical role in supporting India’s electricity generation, particularly amid increasing consumption during peak demand periods.

Officials indicated that improved logistics, enhanced mining efficiency, and better coordination with end-users contributed to the strong performance in both production and dispatch. The company has been focusing on ramping up output to meet annual targets and reduce supply bottlenecks.

Coal India’s sustained production levels are vital for maintaining fuel security in the country, where coal remains a primary source of energy. The company is also investing in capacity expansion and modernization initiatives to further boost output in the coming months.

The March figures mark a positive close to the financial year, reinforcing CIL’s position as a key driver of India’s energy sector.
