SECL Logs Over 5% Production Growth in FY26, Boosts Coal India Output

New Delhi: South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), a key arm of Coal India Limited, has recorded over 5% growth in coal production in the financial year 2025-26, reflecting improved operational performance and increased demand from the power sector.

The production rise comes as SECL intensified its mining activities, enhanced productivity across key projects, and streamlined logistics to ensure steady supply. The company plays a crucial role in meeting coal requirements for thermal power plants, particularly in central and western India.

Officials attributed the growth to better utilization of mining capacity, adoption of advanced technologies, and efficient workforce management. Increased focus on dispatch efficiency also supported higher offtake during the year.

The strong performance of SECL has contributed significantly to Coal India’s overall output, reinforcing the PSU’s position as the backbone of India’s energy security. With rising electricity demand, the company continues to prioritize output expansion and infrastructure upgrades.

The growth trend is expected to continue as SECL undertakes further capacity enhancement initiatives and aligns with Coal India’s long-term production targets.
