AM/NS India Supplies Specialised Steel for Indian Navy’s INS Malvan, Strengthening Indigenous Defence Manufacturing

AM/NS India has supplied specialised, high-grade steel for the construction of the Indian Navy’s INS Malvan, marking another significant contribution to India’s growing indigenous defence manufacturing ecosystem. The delivery highlights the company’s capability to produce advanced steel solutions that meet the stringent quality, durability, and performance standards required for modern naval warships.

The specialised steel has been manufactured to withstand harsh marine conditions while ensuring superior structural strength, corrosion resistance, and operational reliability. The supply supports the Government of India’s vision of strengthening domestic defence production under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

INS Malvan is expected to enhance the operational capabilities of the Indian Navy, while the use of domestically produced specialised steel underscores India’s increasing self-reliance in strategic defence materials. AM/NS India’s participation in the project reflects the growing collaboration between the steel industry and the defence sector to develop critical infrastructure using locally manufactured materials.

Industry experts believe that the successful supply of specialised steel for naval applications demonstrates India’s advancing metallurgical expertise and reinforces the country’s ability to support complex defence programmes with indigenous technology and manufacturing capabilities.

As India continues to modernise its naval fleet, partnerships between domestic steel producers and defence shipbuilders are expected to play a crucial role in reducing import dependence and strengthening national security.
