Lynk & Co is one of those 100% plugin vehicle brands sitting under the giant Geely umbrella. It has had its ups and downs, and it’s not blazing a rapid, insane path of growth like a few other Chinese EV startups, but it’s doing alright. A key focus of the brand is the European market, and it’s looking to achieve much more there via a new partnership.

Yes, as you can see in the title, that partnership is with Volvo Cars (another company under the Geely umbrella). Starting in January 2027, Volvo Cars will be Lynk & Co’s exclusive distributor in Europe.

“The agreement marks an important milestone in Lynk & Co’s European journey and creates a strong foundation for the brand’s continued growth across the region. By leveraging Volvo Cars’ established commercial infrastructure, retail network and service footprint, Lynk & Co will be able to reach more customers, strengthen its market presence and further improve access to its products and services.”

It will certainly help to get Lynk & Co’s cars out to a lot more locations, and also promise service at established, trusted dealerships. This finally gives Lynk & Co a big runway to try to launch from. Also, given that Volvo is originally a European (Swedish) company that many Europeans love and trust, exclusively putting Lynk & Co electric vehicles in its dealerships basically makes Lynk & Co look like another luxury brand of Volvo. Will it work to jack up Lynk & Co sales? Maybe — but it’s better than what the company has been doing. It gives the brand a better chance.

“Europe remains a strategically important market for Lynk & Co, and the new distribution model is designed to support the brand’s next phase of growth while enhancing the customer experience across the region,” Lynk & Co says.

“This partnership brings together Volvo Cars’ established commercial infrastructure and Lynk & Co’s distinctive brand and product proposition, says Mo Wang, CEO of Lynk & Co International. Our focus will be to ensure strong strategic alignment between Europe and our global organization, preserve the distinctiveness of the Lynk & Co brand and work closely with Volvo Cars to turn this partnership into sustainable long-term growth,” Mo Wang, CEO of Lynk & Co International, adds.

“Today’s announcement represents an exciting new chapter for Lynk & Co in Europe, said Martin Persson, Head of Lynk & Co Europe at Volvo Cars. Over the past years, Lynk & Co has successfully expanded to 25 European markets and built a network of more than 140 partner-operated sales points, leveraging the collaboration with Volvo Cars retailers. With Volvo Cars now becoming the exclusive distributor for Lynk & Co in Europe, we are confident that we can take that growth to the next level. By combining Lynk & Co’s distinctive brand and product portfolio, the strength and innovation capabilities of Geely Auto Group, and Volvo Cars’ proven commercial operations and market reach, we are creating a strong foundation for sustainable long-term growth. Together, we see significant opportunities to further strengthen Lynk & Co’s position in Europe and establish the brand as an increasingly relevant player in the evolving automotive landscape,” says Martin Persson, Head of Lynk & Co Europe at Volvo Cars.

The arguments are clear. The idea seems good. But e’ll see how it works. Any thoughts?
