Coal India Appoints Mukesh Choudhary as Director (HR) with Additional Charge

New Delhi: Coal India Limited (CIL) has appointed Mukesh Choudhary as Director (Human Resources) with additional charge, strengthening the leadership of the Maharatna public sector enterprise as it continues to focus on workforce development, productivity, and operational excellence.

Choudhary, a seasoned executive with extensive experience in the coal and mining sector, will oversee the company’s human resource functions while holding additional responsibilities. His appointment comes at a time when Coal India is pursuing capacity expansion, digital transformation, and enhanced employee welfare initiatives to support the country’s growing energy demand.

As Director (HR), Choudhary will be responsible for key areas including talent management, industrial relations, employee engagement, leadership development, skill enhancement, and organisational transformation across Coal India’s subsidiaries.

Coal India, the world’s largest coal-producing company, employs a workforce of more than two lakh people and plays a pivotal role in ensuring India’s energy security. Effective human resource management remains central to the company’s efforts to improve productivity, maintain industrial harmony, and implement modern workforce practices.

Industry observers believe the appointment will help reinforce Coal India’s long-term strategy of building a future-ready workforce while supporting the government’s objective of increasing domestic coal production and reducing dependence on imported coal.

The company is expected to continue prioritising employee welfare, safety, training, and digital HR initiatives under the new leadership, alongside its ongoing efforts to achieve higher production targets and operational efficiency.
