2027 BYD Seal 06 Gets Lidar, BYD Da Han Gets 1,008-km Range

Details regarding a big BYD refresh and a hot new launch have come out, and they are interesting and exciting.

2027 BYD Seal 06 Gets Lidar

First of all, the hugely popular BYD Seal 06 is getting a big refresh for the 2027 model year, and that includes getting lidar on its hood apparently. That’s what images released today by BYD seem to show.

Naturally, we don’t know much more on this. Will lidar be on all versions of the BYD Seal 06, or just top-end trims? What levels of God’s Eye driver-assist will the model be getting?

We don’t know much else about the refreshed model yet. It’s a bit longer (155 mm longer) than the current version, with the following dimensions:

• 4,870 mm in length
• 1,890 mm in width
• 1,495 mm in height
• 2,820 mm wheelbase

It also has more power. Single-motor ratings of the 2027 model show 120 kW and 240 kW, versus 110 kW and 160 kW in the current model year.

So, across the board, it looks like the BYD Seal 06 is getting some notable upgrades, but we’ll have to wait for more details.

BYD Da Han Gets 1,008-km Range

Then there’s the BYD Da Han. Now this is a premium full-size sedan. And new filings show that it’s going to have 1,008 km of EV range. 1,008 km! That’s 626 miles. I mean, this is just getting crazy now….

There’s not been an official launch of the model yet, but we do know a few things. ” It is the ultimate flagship of the brand’s Dynasty series. It boasts rear-wheel steering, 764 hp, and a 102.3 kWh LFP battery that supports flash charging,” CarNewsChina notes. “Another variant of its name is BYD Great Han,” it adds.

“This flagship adopts the DiPilot 5.0 assisted driving system with a LiDAR sensor on the roof and cameras in the front fenders. Other highlights of the Da Han include semi-hidden door handles, 21-inch multi-spoke rims, and a continuous taillight unit in the back.

“The BYD Da Han boasts hefty dimensions of 5256/1999/1510 mm with a wheelbase of 3,130 mm. For clarity, the Da Han is 66 mm longer than the standard Mercedes-Benz S-Class. The all-electric Da Han comes standard with a 102.326 kWh LFP battery. The entry-level model offers a peak power of 370 kW (496 hp) and 1,008 km of CLTC range. The top-trim BYD Da Han AWD offers two electric motors with a combined peak power of 570 kW (764 hp) and 880 km of range.”

There’s also going to be a plugin hybrid (DM-i) version of the Da Han available. It will include a 54.5 kWh LFP battery and 470 km (292 miles) of all-electric range. My pure EV 2019 Tesla Model 3 has about 200 miles (or less) of electric range….
