Suspended Glencore Executive Told Radiant World ‘Say Nothing on Email’ Amid $2 Billion Dispute

London/Singapore, September 19, 2026: A senior Glencore executive who has been suspended pending an internal review reportedly instructed counterparts at iron-ore trader Radiant World to avoid communicating by email, according to WhatsApp messages reviewed by Bloomberg News.

Peter Hill, who headed Glencore’s iron-ore business and later became responsible for steelmaking commodities, wrote “Say nothing on email” in a WhatsApp message in April 2025, according to the report. Other messages dating from 2023 to 2025 reportedly indicated that Hill viewed Glencore as an important financial backer of Radiant World and suggested he had significant authority over aspects of its trading activities.

Glencore–Radiant World Relationship Under Scrutiny

The messages have emerged as the business relationship between the two companies faces growing legal scrutiny. Radiant World, Sapphire Minmetals and related companies have filed a US$2 billion lawsuit against Glencore in Singapore. Glencore has rejected the claims as meritless and said it intends to contest them vigorously.

Glencore has also accused Radiant World of fraud. Radiant World has denied wrongdoing. The dispute has followed allegations in court documents and media reports concerning financial documents and transactions involving the trading group.

Executive Suspended

Hill was suspended from his duties while Glencore reviews its dealings with Radiant World. The review comes after Glencore reportedly stopped new business with the group and recorded a US$480 million provision against its outstanding exposure.

Some of the WhatsApp messages were reportedly sent from Hill’s personal phone and others from a Glencore phone. Bloomberg said it was shown screenshots of some messages, while the contents of others were described by people familiar with the matter. The report also noted that Bloomberg had not seen the full context of the conversations.

Glencore declined to comment on the messages, while Hill and Radiant World did not respond to requests for comment, according to the report.

The case remains subject to legal proceedings and Glencore’s internal review, with the allegations from both sides yet to be fully resolved.
