EnergyX Launches First U.S. Direct Lithium Extraction Plant in Texas

Texas: Clean energy technology firm EnergyX has launched its first direct lithium extraction (DLE) demonstration plant in Texas, marking a significant step toward strengthening domestic lithium production in the United States.

The facility, part of the company’s Project Lonestar initiative near the Texarkana region, is designed to showcase advanced lithium extraction technologies that can efficiently process lithium from brine resources. The plant is expected to play a key role in scaling up production capabilities and supporting the growing demand for battery materials.

Direct lithium extraction is considered a breakthrough method that enables faster and more sustainable recovery of lithium compared to traditional evaporation techniques, which can take months or years. The new plant aims to demonstrate higher efficiency, reduced environmental impact, and improved recovery rates.

The project is part of broader efforts to establish a secure domestic supply chain for critical minerals, particularly as demand rises from electric vehicles and renewable energy storage sectors. The company has also invested millions of dollars into the facility and expects it to generate skilled jobs while advancing clean energy innovation.

Industry experts say the successful deployment of DLE technology at scale could position the U.S. as a stronger player in the global lithium market, reducing reliance on imports and supporting the transition to a low-carbon economy.
