Gold Steady as Investors Gauge US-Iran Risks and Fed Signals

New Delhi: Gold prices remained largely steady in global markets as investors closely monitored escalating geopolitical tensions between the United States and Iran while also assessing fresh signals from the US Federal Reserve regarding the future path of interest rates.

Market participants adopted a cautious stance amid uncertainty surrounding the Middle East, with fears of further regional instability supporting demand for safe-haven assets such as gold. At the same time, investors remained focused on comments from Federal Reserve officials for clues on the timing and extent of potential interest rate adjustments in the coming months.

Analysts noted that gold continues to find support during periods of heightened geopolitical uncertainty, although expectations of prolonged higher US interest rates could limit further gains. Elevated interest rates generally reduce the appeal of non-yielding assets like gold by increasing the opportunity cost of holding bullion.

The US dollar and Treasury yields also remained key factors influencing gold prices, with traders watching economic data releases for additional insights into inflation and the broader economic outlook. Stronger-than-expected economic indicators could reinforce the Federal Reserve’s cautious policy stance, while weaker data may revive expectations of monetary easing.

Investors are expected to remain vigilant over developments in the Middle East and upcoming US economic reports, as both geopolitical events and monetary policy decisions are likely to determine the near-term direction of the precious metals market.

Despite short-term fluctuations, analysts believe gold will continue to attract investor interest as a preferred hedge against geopolitical risks, inflation concerns, and broader market uncertainty.
