Just a week ago, I covered BYD’s September commercial electric vehicle growth, which is up tremendously year over year. BYD’s commercial vehicle sales increased 113% year over year last month. Across the first nine months of the year, sales were up 29% — from 37,578 in 2025 to 48,492 in 2026.

What I did not realize, though, was that BYD was on the verge of reaching 150,000 cumulative commercial vehicle sales. Well, I don’t think the company has achieved that number of deliveries yet, but it has now produced 150,000 commercial “new energy vehicles.”

The company’s 150,000th vehicle was the Q3 electric semi truck. It was produced at the company’s factory in Huai’an in the Jiangsu province.

“The company said the Q3 is a key model in its push into long-haul transport and that it will increase investment in the long-haul heavy-duty truck market to expand its truck business,” CnEVPost adds. “BYD’s commercial vehicle business began with city buses. It started truck research and development in 2012, gradually expanding its lineup into urban delivery, cold-chain logistics and long-haul transport.”

Looking back at the 48,492 commercial vehicles sold in the first three quarters of this year, that’s basically 33% of the company’s all-time commercial vehicle production! Without a doubt, the company is seeing a strong upward trend in this arena.
