Bihar CM Samrat Choudhary Inaugurates Auction of Strategic Minerals

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary inaugurated the auction process for strategic minerals in the state, marking an important step towards unlocking Bihar’s mineral potential and strengthening the supply of critical resources for industries.

The initiative is aimed at bringing mineral resources into a transparent and competitive auction framework while encouraging greater participation from investors and mining companies. Strategic and critical minerals are increasingly important for sectors such as renewable energy, electric mobility, advanced manufacturing and infrastructure.

Focus on Mineral Resource Development

The auction of strategic minerals is expected to help the state attract investment into the mining and mineral-processing sector. It could also generate additional revenue for the state government while creating opportunities for employment and allied economic activities.

The move comes at a time when India is placing greater emphasis on securing supplies of critical and strategic minerals. These resources are essential for modern industries, including clean-energy technologies, electronics, defence equipment and high-end manufacturing.

Boost to Investment and Industrial Growth

The Bihar government is expected to use the auction process to promote responsible mineral development and encourage value addition within the state. Greater exploration and utilisation of mineral resources could contribute to industrial growth and improve the state’s participation in India’s emerging critical-minerals supply chain.

The auction initiative is also expected to support the broader national objective of reducing dependence on imported strategic minerals and strengthening domestic resource security.

With the launch of the auction process, Bihar has taken another step towards developing its mineral sector and attracting private investment in strategic resource development.
