Kolkata: Coal India Limited (CIL) has commenced coal production at the Salanpur AGKC Colliery, marking another milestone in the company’s efforts to enhance domestic coal production and strengthen India’s energy security.

The launch of production at the new colliery is expected to contribute significantly to Coal India’s output capacity while supporting the country’s growing demand for coal across the power, steel, cement, and industrial sectors. The project forms part of Coal India’s broader strategy to expand mining operations, improve productivity, and reduce dependence on imported coal.

Officials said the Salanpur AGKC Colliery has been developed using modern mining practices with a focus on operational efficiency, worker safety, and environmental sustainability. The mine is expected to generate employment opportunities in the region while contributing to local economic development.
