Washington, D.C.: The U.S. Army has selected Titan and REalloys to develop critical mineral processing facilities as part of a broader effort to strengthen the country’s domestic supply chain for strategic minerals. The initiative is designed to reduce reliance on foreign processing, particularly for materials essential to defense systems, advanced manufacturing, and clean energy technologies.
Under the program, the two companies will establish processing capabilities for rare earth elements and other critical minerals used in military equipment, electronics, aerospace components, and electric vehicle technologies. The projects are expected to enhance the resilience of the U.S. defense industrial base while supporting the government’s broader strategy of onshoring key mineral supply chains.
Officials said the initiative reflects growing concerns over global supply chain vulnerabilities and the concentration of critical mineral processing in a handful of countries. By expanding domestic processing capacity, the U.S. aims to improve long-term resource security, strengthen national defense readiness, and support the development of a competitive critical minerals industry.
