Coal India Arm BCCL Announces Cashback Incentive to Boost Coal Lifting

Coal India subsidiary Bharat Coking Coal Limited has introduced a unique incentive scheme offering a cashback of Rs 1.60 crore to consumers who lift 20 rakes of coal, in a move aimed at accelerating coal evacuation and improving supply chain efficiency.

The limited-period offer is designed to encourage faster lifting of coal from pitheads and sidings, helping BCCL reduce stock build-up while ensuring steady fuel availability for key consuming sectors such as power, steel, and other core industries. Under the scheme, eligible consumers who meet the specified rake-lifting target within the defined timeframe will qualify for the cashback benefit.

Officials said the initiative is part of broader efforts by Coal India and its subsidiaries to optimise logistics, improve rake turnaround, and support uninterrupted coal supplies amid rising demand from the power sector. By incentivising bulk lifting, the company aims to ease congestion at loading points and enhance operational efficiency.

The scheme does not alter existing coal prices or contractual terms and is structured as a post-lifting incentive, ensuring compliance with prevailing supply agreements and regulatory norms. BCCL will continue to monitor performance and evaluate the effectiveness of such measures in streamlining coal movement.

Industry participants view the cashback offer as an innovative approach by a public sector miner to address logistical challenges, particularly during periods of heightened coal offtake, while reinforcing Coal India’s focus on demand responsiveness and supply reliability.
